CIFS is killing my network

Is anyone out there an expert on CIFS with Active Directory?
I have a site with a T1 circuit and it is being overwhelmed by the CIFS protocol using 1M of bandwidth constantly. What is causing the high CIFS usage? All I know is the clients logs in to the DC server at another site and there is no login script.
This just started recently and I don't know what the cause. I'm going to need to sniff the traffic to see what's going on.
