Hello all... I am installing CICS 7.1 for the first time and telephone is not my area of expertise but I thought I'd give it a try (for non profit organization).

I successfully installed CICS amphenol cables to the internal lines and the phones work internally on 1st 66 block. I can call extension 221, 222, 223, etc. and speak without any problem.

But if I want to make an external call, I press 9 + phone #, I get nothing. I get ticking noises when I am pressing buttons after the 9, which tells me that something is not right...

On the 2nd 66 block, I have the incoming lines to this office coming all the way on the left pins (row 1). Then from 2nd row I am punching down the amphenol connections for the CICS. But no dial tone...

Do I need to have another 66 block, to which I am going to use row 1 for the amphenol connections, then using 2 wires connect the incoming lines to the cics amphenol?

This system has 2 amphenol connections and one phone jack on top of them. It came with a trunk for 4 lines 16 extensions.

In programming, I have assigned all 3 phone lines to all the phones, and also assigned primary line, but it still seems like my wiring is a problem since I get no dial tone.

If I pick up the phone I head dial tone, but once I press 9 it goes dead. Then each number after that it makes a noice.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you all in advance.

If you've just got 3 lines, u don't need line pool. (the dial 9 part) You should have your 3 lines on the first 3 buttons of all the phones you've programmed them in. just press the button and dial out.

Also, when terminating the lines on the amphanol cable, you must skip 2 pairs in between every 2 lines. so pair 1 , 2 = line 1 - 2, pair 3 , 4 = empty, pair 5 , 6 = line 3 - 4

That should do it.

As for Pool lines 1-4 are defaulted to Pool A
I suggest take out line 4 and leave the rest in the pool for other applications such as ATA or Vmail to call out on.

Thank you guys. I had done just that and skipped the 2 pairs, and voila it works like a charm. I just cant believe that this wouldn't allow line one and two to work at all. Weird... But fixed.

Thank you all again!
