I have a lengthy vbscript that automates some database routines. I can use SendKeys to get the Open (or connect to database) to come up, but I am not sure how to navigate in the "window"?. I mean you can use ALT + I to drop down the "Save in:" menu, but how do you effectively choose the next path. Using SendKeys up or down is worthless since, the actual list or order could be anything. Is there a way to get values within this list and pick the right path or am I approaching this all wrong?

Any help would greatly appreciated!

There probably is a better way. What sort of things are you trying to do and what sort of DB is it?

I am using a proprietary software app called Pragmatech. Anyhow, I suppose I need to figure out a way where I can effectively select the right path to save a file or open a file. This would basically be for any kind of application. I was going to just use ALT F - Open - then select 1 (since most window apps hold the last 4 opened documents), but since these could change, this isn't the best way to handle it. My script originally just picked 1, but that would only work if it was the LAST opened document or file was the correct one.

I need to figure out a way to basically see what is in the Dialog box and drill down to the correct folder. It's basically, a mapped drive, but I just can't figure out how to navigate around in the list, since there might be similarly named folders and such... Am I making any sense here?

The real question is:
does Pragmatech expose an Object model or an API ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

What's the best way to find out if a given software app uses an Object Model or an API? Can anyone throw me a link for some script samples or something?
