My chooser doesn't hold the selected printer any more, and I can't get page setup in any applications. The only way I can print in some apps is by selecting the printer, and immediately using command P on the open document. Anyone got some bright ideas please?

Sounds to me like your printer preferences have been corrupted. Try the following:

Delete the printer from the desktop and recreate the printer using chooser with the right PPD for your printer.

Your could also try rebuilding desktop. ALT + Command on Startup

I know this may sound stupid, but how old is your machine? I have seen similar things happen when the battery is dying - the machines often lose printer settings.

Couple of G4's.

It could also be that you PPD have become corrupt.

Matt,

Are you using an Espon printer in the configuration you mention to begin this thread??

It's a direct-connect rather than a networked machine?

Have you tried reinstalling your printer drivers from the CD-ROM??

I've patched the Epson drivers here (networked) about three times in the past year so ... that might be a thought.

I wonder if your Chooser is toast and you could drop a clean one in?

I am experiencing the same problem with G-4 OS 9.0.4
OS 9.0.1 has no problems. We are connecting using Epson RIP server.

update the printer drives 1st the battery can do it all so check to see if the time and date are off So long and thanks for all the fish.
