I have an AMD 1.4Ghz CPU and want to get a new mobo. I am looking at the Giga-Byte GA-7VTX with the VIA KT266 chipset or the GA-7VTXE witht the VIA KT266A which is better?

GA-7VTXE KT266a by far!! read the reviews, the KT266 was a bit of a disapointment, that is why many motherboard manufactures went for the AMD760 option with the Via south bridge.
All has changed now with the introduction of the a* version,
This chipset rules, kicking everything else into touch.
Fastest DDR option at the moment.
I can also say! I don't know where in the world you are but here in England we have a very reputable PC dealer network called Evesham. Com, A personal friend of mine who works as a support Engineer for them says that this board has one of the lowest return rates of any board they use and that in his new machine, he is just about to build, he is going to use one! Carn't get better recommendation than that! Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

Martin,
You are by far a very knowledgable person and I thank you and everyone else who has been replying to my posts no matter how simplistic they might be. Again I thank everyone.
