I am upgrading at the moment, and the motherboards which I am using (Supermicro PDSLA) have the Intel 945 chipset. The boards offer integrated Gigabit LAN (Intel 82573V).

It generally seems to be the case that most m/board integrated feature offer poorer performance or less features than those found on the equivalent dedicated solutions.

Is this the case with network adapters?

Thanks.

It can be but the Intel onboard ethernet adapters are generally very good. I use the adapter built into mine!

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

I use both the integrated and the plugin I have found NO difference in performance.
