Child Domains Questions

Right now I have a domain and all of our remote sites are organized as OUs under the main domain. I am thinking that for future growth I may want to start implementing child domains. What are the benefits of this? Is directory replication much better?

Adding Child Domains means - more administartive overhead

If you want to controll replication traffic, you may be better off to use Sites.
