I need to create a domain on the exchange server which is a child-domain of which the exchange server is a member of (for example the exchange server is email.company.com and I need to create email addresses like accounts.company.com), the accounts child domain doesn't actually possess a DC or anything like that I would just like the email server to handle that domain. I've created a recipient policy for the new sub-domain and I've added all the users who require that email address.

The user is able to send a remote email and the address appears how it should however if I try to send a remote email back to the new user I get an NDR with the following:

A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your administrator.

I'm guessing its something to do with DNS (as these things usually are!). I've set up a forward lookup zone for the company.com domain and created a host for the new domain (accounts) this I've pointed to the primary domain controller I've then created an MX record for the new domain which is associated with the email.comapny.com server, am I doing something wrong?
