We are running a Tranlog backup and it is taking way too much time to complete. On average, it would take about 5 mins to backup. We are experiencing log backups to over an hour for only 100 mb log.
It places the file out on the backup directory within seconds of starting. It also moves the data to it within seconds since the file size is what is should be. (100mb) however, the backup does not complete and it keeps using CPU usage. I can go out to the tranlog backup and change the file name so I know that SQL is done with the file and does not have a lock on it. Any ideas on what is going on?
We just moved to Windows 2000 and changed our raid 5 array from 8 disks to 14. Drivers and firmware seem to be correct. We are running SQL 2000.
