There is no (easy) way to get back a lost rulebase from the gateway where a compiled version is located.
Your way forward is one of the following:
1. Restore from backup.
or
2. Manually rework all of the change control documents that were put through since the last change date on your rulebase.
If neither of these is an option (and I'm assuming it's not) then you have a problem.
If your rulebase isn't too large and complex, then probably just pushing what you have and fixing what breaks is an option.
If this isn't an option, contact a *genuine* Check Point expert who *may*, for enough cash, help you reverse back the rulebase from stored bits and pieces on the Nokia. If you speak to someone about this, if they don't know how to read INSPECT, they aren't a genuine expert. This is a nasty job and not a quick one either !
For anyone reading this, I can't stress enough, the importance of backups. People using Windows as their management platform have absolutely no excuse, people using Unix based management may find it a little less trivial, but it's an absolute imperative ! If you don't know how to back up your management server, ask your nearest professional !
