Hi,
I would like to know is there anyway to check from Access whether an instance of a database is open by another user.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Rushdi

The easiest way is to look in the directory where the database is stored, if the database is open there will be an ldb file in the directory. The file will have the same name as your database but(.ldb) make sure that you dont have the database open yourself.

Hope this helps

Hi,
Ya, I know about the ldb file. My problem is I have to check whether another user has opened the database excluding me. So definetly there will be a ldb file.

The ldb file actually contains information on who has the database open. You can view this information by opening the ldb file using Notepad.
