Hi - I'm using CR 8.5. I have a dual Y axis chart that is giving me fits. X axis is date. Y1 has five variables on a 0 - 3 scale. Y2 has one variable on a 1 to 20 scale. In design mode, I can get the variables to appear on the correct axes. As soon as I close and re-open the report (or even try to modify some other aspects of the chart), two of the Y1 variables are "kidnapped" to the the Y2 axis! I have to go back into Chart Analyzer, Format Chart, General, Data2 Options tab to send the two stray fields back to the correct axis.

Any ideas on how to make these changes stick? For options, I do have a CR10 environment available if this is a version issue. This is a one-off report, so I am willing to work around this problem if needed.

TIA!

Dear Dan,

Look in the Chart Expert and make sure that on the very first tab (Type), you do not have "Automatically set Chart Options" checked.

Anytime you go in to the Chart Expert, if that is checked your changes have a tendency to get wiped.

Change options only by using the Chart Analyzer which is accessible in Preview mode.

Ro:
I've got a bad feeling this is either a CR version issue or is simply undo-able. I tried your suggestions, and get the same result.

This is a complex graph - 3 series are lines on a 1-3 scale, 2 series are bars on a 0-1 scale (plotted on the same axis as the first series), and the final series is a line on a 1-n scale. Even when I can get the chart to appear correctly in development mode, an attempt to export it to PDF is sadly less than successful - the bar series drop out and text and drawing objects wind up in unpredictable locations. I may take one more stab at this using CR 10, but otherwise I'll have to come up with new specs and design to present this information.

Thanks for your help!
