Hi all,

I have a puzzling problem with MS Chart. I've a query that I'd like to dislay the results in a chart which is working fine. It displays data (hours and dollars) by week. I'd like to have a chart that displays the data and using the wizard it formats my week ending using the actual week of the year. So it makes 01/27/02 as 4 01.

Is there anything I can do to get the date on the chart in a different format specifically, mm/dd/yy?

Thanks for your help!

Been a while since I did the MS Graph thing, but I know it depends on the data in your query; in other words, if you create a "formatted" version of the date field, using a command such as Format([MyDate],"mm/dd/yy"), you'll get the "right" output. You can also try the DatePart function to return a week of the year or whatever, and use the group-by bit of the query to set it up to return your data by week instead of by date. The trick, as I recall, is then to get the data to come out in the right order on the graph...

I've had related problems here too...seems also that all of this a function of the "type" of graph that you choose in options...for example, in one of my charts I had a line graph, and there were two types of line graphs available in the options in MS Graph, one worked (kept the months in order), the other did not.

Thanks for your replies Isadore and downwithcyobadself.

I worked with it this weekend and figured it out. Just in case someone else had a similiar problem....

The data I was charting was hours and dollars spent on a week ending basis. The week ending dates were only for the week ending, not various dates throughout the week. So when I used the chart wizard and wanted to group by week(which is what I thought I wanted to do) it'd give me the wierd format. So the easy answer was to change the grouping by day, which was only the week ending dates. So it worked.

Maybe there should be a MS graph forum...
