My experience with channel banks is they break out T1 channels to 2-wire copper leads for systems that don't have a digital interface. They can be either loop start or ground start. They are also "pbx neutral" so any channel bank should work with any pbx. Are you experiencing a problem? If so, you may want to rephrase your question.
I am having a problem with a adel 600 channel bank and the IP Office does not recognize the lines on a inbound call, outbound is fine. This is a IP500 running 4.0.5
If you mean an ADIT 600 then that is a known issue with the newer "IP400 Analog 4 UNI (LS) Expansion Kit" 700359938 and would guess the IP500 cards have the same issues with them.
The Adit's are commonly used with XO Communications and other providers.
There have been posts about the problem here and I have not seen a clear fix other than to use the older ATM4 modules.
I have seen mention of having the provider check certain dip switches on the unit to provide the correct ring voltage and format as well as Avaya sending out private builds.
I've been lucky enough not to have to deal with the problem for any customers so I have not researched the matter any further.
Probably wasn't very helpful but at least you aren't the only one to run across this issue.
I stumbled on the problem when the universal cards came out since we have an Adit 600 in our office and have had to stick with the older discontinued card.
I have had private builds to fix this issue. Avaya says it is the adit 600's issue, but they made code to accept the adits out of spec input(3.1 was the release I had most recent on the PB for this). From what my network of techs tells me, Avaya is not the only equipment to have issue with adit 600's.
3.2.55 or .54 seems to correct this issue. Current 4.0 release is not corrected for this problem. I have experienced this problem many times with the IP office. We typically steer the customer away from using channel bank and go straight digital T-1 interface to avoid the problem. The technical reason for the lines not ringing in is because the ring voltage levels from channel banks is somtimes working outside of the IPO narrow specifications, even though the channel bank is operating under official guidelines. Other symtoms may be greetings on auto attendant cutting out. I have been down this road with avaya and they drop the ball everytime and say its not the IPO. They are full of crap. Thats what they typically say when they dont know how to correct a problem or they dont want to take responsibility for a pissed off customer!
SuperJenks is correct, there is a patch for the IP500 to enable the IP500 to accept calls from a channel bank. Calls were able to be made in one direction, but not the other. Should be fixed in the next GA release also.
