We have just implemented a new WINS server on our network running 2003. I need to change all clients aprrox (600) 2000/XP workstations to point to this new WINS server address.

Is there any automated way of doing this? I reall do not want to do this as a manual job.
Thanks for any help.

Good day

Question.
Are they static settings or are you running DHCP?

Hi mate,

there static entries.
I know what your getting at.
If we had dhcp then simple just to change the WINS address in there.
wish life was that easy.

Try this:

netsh interface ip add wins "Local Area Connection" 10.0.0.3 index=1

Replace the 10.0.0.3 with the actual IP for the new WINS server.

Hi i tried this from an xp workstation
i get this message

C:\>netsh interface ip add wins "Local Area Connection" 172.17.100.239 index=1
The following helper DLL cannot be loaded: DGNET.DLL.
Ok.

Also i get the message in a pop up window saying

netsh.exe--Unable tolocate component
The application has failed to start becasue framedyn.dll was not found.
