I need to change the tape labels on a few of my LTO-3 tapes. What's the procedure I need to follow? 3 are in the scratch pool and 2 are in the Weekend Pool. All 5 say 'Overwritable'.

Can I just change the labels or do I have to do a format before ... or after the lable change. Then I need to put them into the scratch pool so any job can utilize them?

Thanks,
Mike

right click on tape and proprieties and label - won't wipe the tape.

if you right click on tape and label it will wipe the tape.

Thanks for the instructions ... so all i need to do is relable the tapes, put them back in and then follow your instructions?

In nhbilly step the first will logically rename the tape in the existing instance of Backup Exec. If you were to take the tape to another server the label will still be the old label on the header of the tape. The second step will wipe the tape since it labels the media.
