Is there any way of setting/changing an Out Of Office reply for a user, via the Active Directory or Exchange System Manager?

We have some users that do not use Outlook to collect their emails - they simply use the Exchange Server as a POP3/SMTP Server. But they want to set OOFRs when on holiday. I am happy to do this on their behalf, but cannot see a way to do it.

OWA seems the best to me - but (see other post) - I can't get that to work either!! Not having a good day!

Ideas?

Thanks. Chris

In Active Directory, edit the users account.

In the Exchanged Advanced Tab, click on 'Mailbox Rights'

Add your name to the list and grant yourself 'Full Mailbox Access'.

Wait a few mins or force a replication to make sure all your DCs see the changes

Then add a profile to your Outlook to open that users mailbox and change the OOO from there.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...

But I don't have an Exchange Advanced Tab :-(

I do have an Exchange General tab, and under there there is a "Delivery Options" button that allows me to add myself as a "Send on behalf" user - but that doesn't seem to allow me to access his mailbox. I get an error saying "Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You do not have permission to log on".

Do I have to do anything special to get that extra menu? I am logged on the DC directly, as Administrator.

In AD Users and Computers, click on view, and put a tick against advanced features. Next time you look at a user's properties you will see the Exchange Avdanced tab

Thankyou!

I wish they wouldn't have so many hidden settings. If you're logged in as Administrator, why WOULDN'T you want to see advanced settings?!?!

Worked a treat.

Thanks both.
