We have a Norstar 8X24 DR5 software and a Norstar Voicemail Model 8 that was installed with extensions starting with 100. Can anyone tell me how this was accomplished in extending the numbers below 221 and also still work with the integrated voicemail system mailboxes when the mailbox extensions donot match the phone extensions? Ex. Phone 124 works voicemail box 224.

when you build a mailbox you associate an extension with it. Go ahead and build one and closely examine each promt as you build the box.

Thanks Nortellian. I thought that the extension you specified in the voicemail was linking it back to the phone extension for displaying the you have a message waiting prompt and that can be for notifying a different extension. I still need to know more and appreciate your help.

The phone system's extension can be set up with whatever number you want when first installed. The voicemail can have any extension assigned to it's mailbox as long as it's a valid extension.
Sounds like someone did not set up your voicemail extensions to match the switch.

Galfaro, Yes that is what the vendor did. Since it was changed at the install, can it be changed back or is resetting to default the only way? Beyond that do you know how they did it to begin with? Thanks.

Choice 1 would be renumber all your dns from 1xx to 2xx on the Norstar which is easy as long their are no dial plan conflicts.
Choice 2 you would have to delete all the old mailboxes and recreate them. Remove the 2xx mailboxes & replace with 1xx.
The problems would be mailboxes 100,102 as they are default general delivery and system administrator and cannot be changed...

Thanks Photon33. The original phone system had extensions 1xx so when it was replaced with the Norstar system they reprogrammed it to match. I should have asked how to renumber extensions from 2xx to 1xx when they did not exist to begin with. Yes, the general delivery and system admin mailboxes just added to the issue.
