Changing Excel Default Column Headings?

I have a user that wants to change the default column headings in Excel, from A....ZZ to custom headings such as File No., Name, etc. I've searched through Microsoft Help and the 'Net, no luck. I'm tempted to have her hide the row & column headings in View, then freeze the row that contains her own headings. That will work, but she'll lose the row numbers.

Is it possible to change the default column headings??
