Changing display name in Active Directory Users 1

It's a really minor issue, but it still bugs. In Active Directory Users and Computers, when I create a new user account there is generally a first name and last name. This populates the Display Name field and once the account is created, that's what you see listed. However sometimes I only know a person's first name when I create the account. Later when I find out what the last name is I add it in, but the name displayed in the list of accounts is still only the first name. I manually change the Display Name field in the Properties and it doesn't change what it displays in the list. Even when I delete all the values from all the fields in the first tab of the Properties, it still just lists the first name (instead of listing the account login name as it should). Basically it just keeps on displaying whatever I entered as the Display Name when the account was created. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special trick to change what the console displays?

When you want to change that display name, instead of going into the users properties, right click on the users name in AD and click rename. That should alter what you want.

Simple, straightforward, and yet I somehow managed to miss that. Boy do I feel stupid! Anyway, thanks for the answer, that was exactly it!
