Could you please tell me if it is possible to change the server that a client authenticates to? We have an NT4.0 environment with a PDC and 3 BDC's. I would like to be able to see which server is providing logon/authentication for each client. I would also like to force certain clients to authenticate to specific servers. Is this possible with NT4.0 servers

typing winmsd will give you your logon server (network tab)

You could use the LMHOST file to pre cache the logon servers but this is not recommended. I cannot think of a valid reason why you would need to control the logons in this way.

WOW! Thank you for responding so quickly! Sorry, I should have included a few more details. I have several Win98 workstations that are not running logon scripts. I wanted to display the name of the server that the client is pointing to, and possible redirect the workstation to authenticate to a different server.
