Hello yall,

Is there a method to change 80 stations softkey programing, other than doing this manually ( one by one ) ? I know that years back using Terranova Terminal emulator that Avaya sold you could do this .. can it be done with ASA ?

I know that if I export the a station or a group of stations, then you can change the individual settings .. but you dont see the hardkeys or softkeys..

Any suggest would help

warm regards

You can use ASA to create a station template in the advanced section, in the button option inside that template, you can change the softkeys (click on the phone window). Don't forget to remove all other options in the field tab otherwise you might inadvertently change something else. Then run it and apply to the extension you wish to change.

Hope this helps,

FYI... Terranova is still part of the ASA package. Now its called "Avaya Terminal Emulator"

So if in the field tab .. I must change all to be blank ? then on the General tab, find the button that I want to change save, then execute the templete in a change command ?

Am I on the right track ?

BoBAz,

Yes you are on the right track, but you must use the advance section "import", to use the template. Your created template will be under the "select a template" drop down box, then select the change radio button. Once you hit O.K., a spreadsheet looking window will pop up, enter the extensions you wish the change, hit the save icon then the lightning icon to execute. You can also make changes to other attributes in this area.

Make sure your template is ready. If you are only making soft key button changes, no need to have any values in the Field tab or in the button mapping section. If you did, all stations would have that setting when executed. Example, if your template came from a 6416d+, and you left that type in there, but an extension you are attempting to change a softkey on was a 6424, it would be changed to a 6416d+. If you x ported the port value, all extensions specified to be changed would no longer have a port. The same goes for all the other fields including the "button" section.

It can be very, very handy. It can also be very... how shall I say... dangerous.

I always test on 1 extension before rolling out to many. In 2 hours, I changed 1,500 call center agent phones to a completely new button mapping. Imagine how long that would have taken changing them 1 at a time.

Good luck, test and reply with any questions.

Thanks,

I forgot to mention... in the spreadsheet looking window, you can use CTRL V and CTRL C to paste and copy information from any other windows type application.
