Change url with htaccess?

I have a url that dynamically shows images with the data in the url and it works great but I'd like to take out the page. Here is the example:

http://www.site.com/folder1/script.php/data/image.png

I'd like to make this be:

http://www.site.com/folder1/data/image.png

Can i do that with htaccess or is it not possible?

With [tt]mod_rewrite[/tt] :

RewriteRule /folder1/data/ /folder1/script.php/data/

But I think this is not what you want.
