I cant seem to properly switch to this card from the 9600 without getting STOP errors in Win2000. A person used to be able to switch to a standard VGA card reboot and load the new card drivers and reboot again but I cant find standard VGA card in the device list. I also have a PCI ATIRAGEII card that was my testing card; but even that bluescreens. How in Win2000 am I supposed to change the card without getting stop errors. I removed it from the device manager, lowered the resolution, and tried to select my ATIRAGEII just to get to a point where I could start to reinstall my AIW9000 again but all I get is stop errors. My PC is a Sempron something, on an MSI board with like 512MB. Thank you guess Ill have to try it tomorrow. -Marc

I've always started in safe mode, and selected a generic video card, and a generic drive that was in 640x480 resolution. Then I shut down the cpu, and switched cards. The computer comes up in 640x480, and discovers the new device. You can either have the cd available for the driver, or cancel it, and run the new installation. It also helps to remove any software before rebooting.

Strange! because both cards use the same Catalyst driver.
Anyway, download the latest 5.13 drivers from ATI's website, I beleive the control panel requires users to install .Net package updates from Microsoft website (select custom and install both 1.1 and 2.0)

Completely uninstall any existing ATI drivers to be sure then restsart with new card inserted.

If you are still getting stop errors try one of many "driver clean" programes that are available for free.
Try again.
If you still have the same then things are not looking good for that card, try in another PC perhaps.
This card should be recognised and display without issue in basic mode.

dglienna is on the right track.

ATI suggests changing your video card drive to "Generic VGA" and set the resolution to 640x480x256 before installing drivers.

Change to Generic VGA as listed above, remove the old card, install the new card, install the drivers, enjoy your new video card. :)
