Does anyone know how to change the source file path in XP Pro? I have copied the I386 directory to the root of my C: drive. Here's the deal....I would like to have any applications that I am installing that need access to the I386 folder, for whatever reason, to default to C:\I386 rather than prompting me for D:\I386 (my CD-ROM drive). I have tried editing the following registry keys but they do not seem to work: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\sourcepath=C:\I386

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Sourcepath=C:\I386

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if this will work but you can also try this key as well or instead off.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SourcePath=C:\I386

This is only a guess, but are you adding I386 to the value when you should just point it to the folder that holds I386?

Copied from a previous post :

First copy the folder "i386" to your hard drive. Next make the
following 2 changes to the registry;
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Setup\SourcePath:REG_SZ:<drive letter>
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\SourcePath:REG_SZ:<drive letter>
(Where <drive letter> is the appropriate drive letter)

Example:
If the i386 directory is at C:\i386, the SourcePath value would be C:If the directory is at C:\Directory\i386, add the sourcepath,
C:\Directory

Looks like I had it sort of right the first time. Linney you were right in that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Setup\SourcePath:REG_SZ:<drive letter>
should be pointing to the root drive (this is where the I386 directory was copied) rather pointing directly to the I386 folder. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\SourcePath:REG_SZ:<drive letter> should point to the I386 directory (C:\I386 in my case).

Thanks to Linney and AussieClint for your input.
