Change the save file type default from .txt to .rtf

Can anyone suggest how I can change the default setting in the Exchange 5.0 emailer (not Outlook) from .txt to .rtf ? I save most of my emails in that format and want to save some keystrokes. Are the parameters adjustable at all?
