Change passwords in OWA

If a user logs on to a domain by using a Windows 2000 user account, the user receives the following message "Your password will expire in 7 days. Do you want to change it now?"
However, when the user logs on to Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA), the user does not receive a message about changing the password OWA is running on the same server as Exchange 2000 and Active Directory.
I want OWA also to be able to change an expire account password. How can I get OWA to do this?

I have read the MS articles to set up PEWA to email the users outside the domain, but I was wondering if there was an automatic way to have the change password to pop up instead of the email telling them to click the change password button.

TIA,
Joe

Nothing that I know of for OWA. I use PEWA as well.

Hi!
By default you can not do it with OWA, though there is a button for that (In the shortcuts, under Options).

You have to configure this feature and I am trying to find the instructions for that in my archives.
When I find them I'll post them here.

Am I right in thinking this has something to do with CA's????

Seem to remember encountering it in the past whilst dabbling with OWA, as the password is essentially your AD domain password OWA requires some kind of proof as to authenticity of remote user - This can be resolved with cert on machine issued by Exchange domain...I think :)

I wasn't sure what jaylou was asking. If it's how to set-up OWA password change option then that can be easily achieved. If it's whether or not OWA can prompt a user that their password will expire than unless something has changed recently you cannot do that. I use PEWA for that. It's a script that runs within a scheduled task, and simply emails users when their password is close to expiring. As far as installing password change functionality:

Those are a few articles outlining all you need to know.

Yes, I was looking for the
link. The only think that I could add is that I haven't been able to make this work without using SSL certificate though I tried the value "1".
You can give it a try but most probably you'll have to install a certificate on the Exchange server.
By the way freessl offer Web certificates for 49 USD and it takes five minutes to purchase it online and install it.

Good Luck!

Even if you can get it to work without a certificate I'd advise strongly against that. Your users would be transmitting their passwords in clear text without ssl.

Good luck.
