change part of a loaded html page?? 1

I have a series of jpg's that are cycled through buy the user clicking and calling a javascript function.
Is there a way to have some text on the page updated at the same time by the javascript. I would like to have a caption above the picture change with the picture.
I know I could simply have multiple html pages, but the javascript method lends itself to easier updating for the pictures.
the specific web page in question is

http://www.classyclips.ca/

The other pages on the site will eventually have pictures like the main page.
