Hi all

I have a configuration where 1 box is a primary and the other is standby - when (if) the primary croaks, I go onto the secondary and run a script that basically changes the hostname to that of the now defunct primary, does a couple other things, and reboots. Now, it does come up with the proper IP address and all, but for some reason the hostname is still set to that of secondary. My console prompt still says "secondary login:" So I log in, type "hostname primary", exit, and my console prompt now says "primary login". If I log in as anyone other than "root" it takes a good 30-60 seconds before I get a shell prompt. Also, if I reboot the machine, I see a message "secondary syslogd exiting" - some parts are still thinking it's the secondary. Is there some magic way to change the hostname of a machine?
TIA
Rick
