Change domain controler

We have 2 DC. We decided to change one of them wizh new machine.
I would like to know the right procedure to remowe the old one and change it with new one.
is this ok.
1.remove old one with dcpromo
2.change the ip and computer name on old one
3.add IP and computer name to new one
4.add dc with dcpromo

Sounds ok, just make sure the old DC isn't your sole DNS or WINS server or you could have problems.

You may also want to review the ntdsutil documentation. It is a utility to completely remove the old machine from AD.
