Hi,
I wondering how to change the Backup user password. The current Backup User account which I'm assuming was installed with Veritas has a blank password. I could just change this through the active directory but I'm worried this my break the backups if I do. Wanted to make sure theres nothing else I should do before I change it.

Thx!

If you change your System logon account password, make sure that you have a backup of your Backup Exec Database. Then try to change it. after, try to run a temp backup on only 1 server. When you'll do that do only your drive first, then if u r running Win2K or Win2K3 try to backup you r system states / shadow copy component. If you rtest are successfull then you can try with more servers. It will be a good idea toi try your domain controller after to see if BE is still able to backup it.

BUT DONT FORGET TO DO A DATABASE BACKUP FIRST!

Le monde c'est de la marde!

Change it in the AD first.

Then in BE, Tools, Backup Exec Services, Service Credentials - change it here. Then stop and restart the services - they should start up fine.

Then, Network, Logon Accounts - edit the Local System Account user - and change the password.

That's it - oh BTW this is for 9.x BE.
