Hi,

I would like to make a change to the Address Book Search Order in Outlook on multiple machines.

In outlook (CTRL-SHIFT-B) brings up the address book and then go tools options, on the section for search for names in the following order...

Is there a way to edit this in the registry? I would like to do this via login script and registry if possible so all the machines are "Correct" and all have the same settings, and to avoid a manual run around to over 50 pc's.

Thanks for your help!
Vince

That's part of the local mail profile, as you've probably gathered. You're going to struggle to automate this, the profile in the registry is horrendously complicated.

Perhaps a better option is to investigate the automated profile building tools (there are a few available) and rebuild everyone's profile. But in the time it takes you to automate this, you can probably have floor-walked 50 PCs. See it as an exercise in building visibility!

Or why not distribute a 'how to' for the users to do it themselves, with each step shown on a screen shot? If only 50% manage to complete it successfully, it at least halves your walking tour...

Thanks zbnet,

I did a regshot and looked at the keys that were different and yes it is a very complicated change by the registry from what I can see, all binary additions etc to user keys not in the hklm_local_machine tree...

I also typed up a how to in the mean time so I will take that route or just roll it out to the primary ones now and deal with the others as it is convient.

Thanks for your response!
