cgi program as a apache index page

I am using ><META http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://helpdesk.com/cgi-bin/wonderdesk.cgi"> to redirect users who visit

http://helpdesk.com.

However, I was wondering if there is anyway I could make the cgi page my home page on apache. In my situation I am sure there is a better method than redirecting pages.

The default page for a server, site, or directory is set using the DirectoryIndex directive.
