CF 4.5 with PWS on Win98 config???

I can't figure it out... Please help... while I have some hair left!

I just got a new computer. I got CF4.5 Server and Studio to work locally with PWS and Win98 2nd edition.

Then I played around the controls panel with ODBC and datasources and the CF Admin module...
and oh sh$t my setup still worked but it now takes over a minute to process my main page after login.

Since I'm still fairly new at this I thought maybe I screwed something up when updating a page... but the same files on my ISP web server load up just fine.
What I've tried to do to reverse this problem.

1. Uninstalled CF Server and Studio
2. Uninstalled PWS
3. Removed ODBC created under controls panel

4. Reinstalled PWS, CF Server, Studio 4.5
5. Recreated ODBC
6. Minimally changed settings in CF Admin
7. FTPed files from ISP server to my machine, including the Access DB.

And woaaaaaaaaawww, still no change.
This leads me to believe it's my win98 machine somehow... or something I changed in CF Admin???

Desperately awaiting.....

Do you need additional information?
Point me to a resource?

I've been researching this issue to no avail....
I'm under the gun and quite desperate.
Not fixing this means I have to develop entirely on the server...
quite time consuming... upload new DB file for every change.

try running an .html file in pws. if this works, then it is not pws. The only dumb questions are the ones that are never asked

Did you add index.cfm to the default document(s) list?
