Can anyone recommend a cellular gateway they have experience with that works well on the IPO 500?

I'd use SIP trunks and stop worring about costs. Check with the SIP Provider if its possible to enable SMS services on their service. Good Luck

I use a Burnside unit on an analogue trunk - it's been in place for a few years and works nicely :)
