Hi, i a need to vary the column width of an excel exportt from crystal via the ocx. Basicall what is happening is that when a data item is exported,it only gets a standard excel cell width, so if the data item extends beyond this, the "###########" appears in excel to indicate that the cell needs to be widened to display the info in the cell.
Is there any way of controlling the export so that the cells are wide enough in excel to accomodate the exported data?

not really in my experience....my Excel exports are similar....I just tell the users to highlight the spreadsheet and auto format the spreadsheet for column width
....they seem ok with that

First, what export dll are you using. I know there are two versions of the excel export. One has one check box the other has 4 or 5 checkboxs/options. You want that second one.

Second what are you exporting it too. Excel 7 extended is what you need. Then you can make the columns almost as big as you want.

report.exportoptions.formattype = crEFTExcel70Tabular

is an export option that might help. I'm not positive though.

Most of my reports are web enabled...I am using CR 8.0 the viewer is limited to using Excel 5.0....so my information may not be correct
