I've run into something new for us and that is attempting to install a celeron2 667 Mhz processor into a pcchips book pc motherboard with an Intel 810 chipset.

The problem is nothing! That's it! Other than the cooling fan starting, there's NOTHING! However, if I replace the CPU with a Celeron 400 it starts right up.

The CPU socet is a PGA370, the 667 CPU is a FC-PGA.

Has anyone ever accomplished this before? If so, what had to be done to make it work? If this is not possible with this motherboard then what is the fastest CPU make/model that will work.

Thank you.

First, your FCPGA runs on a different voltage (1.5v or 1.6v) than the PPGA (2.0v), so check that it's set correctly on the motherboard.
Second the 667 uses a different multiplyer than a 400 (10x instead of 6x).
You should check to see if the motherboard can support that multiplier and voltage at and get a BIOS upgrade if necessary. Do all this with the 400 in place!
I think your motherboard will only support up to 466 in it's present condition, but a BIOS update will fix that (if there is one).
