Hi I ran into a problem on installing CE 9, and I have a couple of questions.
First this is the 5 named licenses "free" version.
I'm trying to install it over 3+ tiers. I have a web "presentation" tier (Win 2003, iis 6), a middle business logic tier (Win 2003), and a data tier (Windows 2003 running SQL 2000 Server). I also have a File and Print, high availability cluster for the reporsitory in and out shares (Win 2003).
I'm aware that iis 6 isn't supported, but I was told by a Business Object Tech that he has it running on iis 6. I asked whether it was in iis 5 isolation mode, and he didn't know, but since you have _put_ it in this mode it's likely that it _does_ run in iis 6 worker process isolation mode after all.
I had a blank db created on the sql server in the data tier layer, and I created a DSN on the middle tier where I was doing my installation.
I did a custom install, but when I finished I couldn't log in to APS with the administrator (or guest) user using the default blank password. I checked in CCM and saw that the APS. I'm using SQL authentication so I didn't have to grant domain account admin rights to the sql cluster (which our dbas wouldn't allow anyway).
Not sure what I did wrong here.
Also, I'm not sure how to configure the rest.
One thing I suppose I should have done was unselect he option to create the the web files (if there was an option), and run it on the presentation layer later.
I had thought it would just prompt me for info on what I wanted to do.
Can any one give pointers (ie steps) on a multi tier installation? Note that I don't want to grant a domain account administrator rights on any of these machines, so I'd like to know the minimal rights needed too, if anyone has this.
Thanks
