BACKGROUND
==========

We have a CE 8.5 environment running on a CLUSTERED 3 server set-up (the database for the APS is Oracle 8). The environment is configured as follows...

CE-01 ==> APS, WCS, EVENT, CACHE servers

CE-02 ==> PAGE, JOB,INPUT, OUTPUT servers

CE-03 ==> APS (clustered with CE-1), WCS, EVENT, CACHE, PAGE, JOB,INPUT(disabled), OUTPUT(disabled) servers

If CE-01 goes down all it's functions are mirrored on CE-03, so it will function normally.

If CE-02 goes down, the contents of the INPUT and OUTPUT directories from CE-02 must be restored on CE-03. The INPUT and OUTPUT services on CE-02 must be disabled, and the INPUT and OUTPUT services on CE-03 must be started and enabled.

PROBLEM
========

When users connect to the CMC via "NT single sign-on" they get the following error -

"Unable to connect to APS CE-02 to retrieve cluster members. Logon can not continue."

The standard CMC login screen for APS = CE-01 is displayed, and the Authentication type is WindowsNT. They re-enter their NT user name and password and are connected to the CMC.

This error DOES NOT appear when they are connecting to ePortfolio. They are connected to ePortfolio without the login prompt.

--------------------

QUESTIONS
=========

1.) Why is this error appearing if CE-2 is not part of the APS cluster?

2.) Why does this error appear only in CMC and not in ePortfolio?

3.) How can I resolve this problem to allow for true "single sign-on" to CMC?

Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.
