Hello all,
I have a relatively new computer.(I built this and it was my first attempt, this computer has worked for almost a year with no apparant problems). It is a amd 1000mhz system with 512k of memory. I am having a problem with the cdrw and the floppy not working properly. I try to use the cdrw just to use the cd rom and I get an error message that states 'incorrect function' I also get the exact same error message when I use the floppy drive 'incorrect function'.
I have uninstalled both drives several times and I have reinstalled the driver to the cdrw several times. This seems to work and then after a day or 2 I get the same error messages.I am using win2000pro and I don't know what the problem could be. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

Have you installed or upgraded packet writing software lately, such as DirectCD or InCD?

And do you have the latest, updated drivers from the manufacturer's web site. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

I did recently install the upgrade for the incd software and also I found the current driver for my cdrw.

Get rid of InCD and see if that fixes your problem. If it does - downgrade. For some reason certain versions of the software give you the error message and, btw, affect all removable drives (hence the floppy problem).

Good luck.
