i send cdr to a networked pc with the capture path set to a share drive.. if your cdr app want a file instead of streaming data then use a script to start capture, wait 24 hours, stop capture then loop... of course the wait is entered in seconds..
if your using tm for cdr reports then the manuals have that setup... i would assume you send cdr to a ptty..
If the CDR records are important and a must have I would first dump them to a MDR 2000E buffer box and then you can retrieve them from there via a lan connection. It will buffer the call records incase of a server or communication failure.

That's the way we have it set up. Serial to buffer, then onto an IP converter. Our vendor told us that if we went directly over IP and the CDR data backed up, it would INI the switch.
Plus, the buffer makes sure that all of your records get where they have to.
Disclaimer: I am 4.5, not 5.0, sorry about that.
I think they have corrected that problem but I still don't like DBA as it uses call registers when storing the data. The MDR 2000e has an onboard ethernet port. Pain in the A#% to set up your first one but it gets easier from there.
