Reliable Session Protocol (RSP)

What is RSP and why use it?[smarty]
- Used for sending CDR data over IP connections
- Introduced in Avaya™ Call Processing Release 9.5.
- Layer 5 (session layer) protocol, designed by Avaya
- Not required, but highly recommended
- Provides added reliability to the CDR data over IP
- Data labelling (sequence #) to prevent data loss
- Keep alive (timer + counter) for communication integrity
- If using IP without RSP[sadeyes]
- Need a terminal server (cost)[sad]
- Potential data loss as a result of network failure[thumbsdown]
- Application receiving CDR data from MultiVantage must also use RSP

Reliable Data Transport Tool (RDTT)[2thumbsup]
Avaya-provided tool. A package downloadable on Services web site
The RDTT tool Package includes:
- Client application (Client.exe)
- Server application (Server.exe)
- Protocol library (Spl.dll)
- Source code
- RSP protocol specification
- User’s guide

Server: accepts and processes CDR data from MultiVantage or client, using RSP protocol.

Client: simulates Avaya MultiVantage Software by sending data records to server. Used by vendors/customers to test their own call accounting system.
Runs on Windows 95/8, Windows NT and Windows 2000

Where to Get RDTT[pc2]

1. Go to “2. select “Communications Systems”
3. select “Enterprise Class IP Solutions (ECLIPS)”
4. select “DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server (ECS)”
5. select “General Info”
6. select “Software Downloads”
7. Select the link to RSP, which is called
“DEFINITY Reliable Data Transport Client/Server Tool”
