Hello i have a 6509 access switch and it has two uplinks one link going to 6509 dsitribution switch and the other link going to the second 6509 distribution switch. When i do a cdp nieghbor on the access switch, I only see the link of one of the distribution switches. The other link is connected and trunking, but is still not seen in cdp. I have made sure trunking is set correctly, both ports on the access switch and the uplink device (distribution switch) say connected. Any ideas why it does not show up in cdp like the other uplink.???

are you sure that cdp is enabled? enter show cdp on the interface

Do you see it looking back the other way from the dist. 6509 ? Check to make sure cdp is enabled on both ends of the link . If these are IOS 6509's then you can try a " clear interface x/x , this will sometimes fix this , it is not unheard of but usually I just see on older switches like 2924's .

cdp is enabled and this is on the switch side of 6509. Also from the uplink device i cant see the access switch when i do a sh cdp nieghbor

You can quickly confirm the status of CDP on the switches by issuing the 'show cdp' and 'show cdp interface' commands.

CDP is enabled, but still can not see other device in show cdp neighbor. CDP is enabled on the other 6509 as well. I am only dealing with the switch side

just an idea but are the dist 6509 also connected together? as the port on the access switch to one 6509 might be in blocking mode because of SPT.
Does traffic go through this port?

CCNA, CCNP..partly ;)

If you examine both switches for which VLANs are allowed on the trunk, has VLAN 1 been allowed? CDP uses VLAN 1 and thus it cannot be pruned if you want to use CDP end-to-end
