Hello all,

I'm writing a function to send email using CDOSYS with an external SMTP server and authentication. That part is working fine but I went to add on the ability to send attachments using .addAttachment which works in theory. The attachment arrives but will not open (it's a PDF) the error says something about being unable to decode.

I've read about PDFs getting scrambled when attached but I can find no resolution to this using CDOSYS.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Try sending a text file and see if it gets damaged. If that works try sending a small binary file perhaps notepad.exe or calc.exe and see if the recipient can execute it.

I tried that...

TXT file makes it just fine, but OUTLOOK wont let me have the .exe attachment to see if it will execute.

I've read about issues like this having to do with encoding, but I can't find a way to change the encoding on CDOSYS messages besides MIME, or UUENCODE. Neither of those options works.

any other ways to change the encoding?

If the binary transferred with no issues than I guess its not an encoding problem.

Are you sure that this PDF is actually a good file that the recipient computer would otherwise be able to read?
