Interesting post there mikey69. That has been my observation as well, and actually is the one reason we consider upgrading at this point - to resolve the pesky bugs we have with 11. That has been my reluctance to jump headlong into this version. I guess we will see over the next few weeks what people encounter early on, and if they resolved any of the memory leak issues, or other interuptve "quirks" that have become standard.
Update on my previous comment. Have recently looked at V12. It is the exception and in my view has several worthwhile improvements. A lot of the small irritations in V11 have been smoothed out.

I just tried creating an ellipse, converting it to curves, then right clicking on it. This gave me the node add/modify menu. Don't remember that double-clicking did this. The right-click works pretty effectively.
Some of the details I liked were much better handling of text on a curve, the ability to choose related colours on a fly-out from the palette. Photopaint's ability to manipulate rasters seems improved, too. I don't use the animated image bits, so can't comment there.

variable color pallete has been around for some time... at least 10 i know.
i was referring to the 'shape tool' when u double click an object in corel11, it would go to this tool so you could edit nodes easily. cd12 simply ignores a double click.

HAve any of you with 12 tried any large files - or spent long times in the same layout? I am looking to see if the memory leaks have been ironed out - you know the one that causes the thing to crash in the middle of a very important modification. Mikey69, you say that some of the small irritations have been worked out form 11. Were you using the 30 day trial, or did you purchase v.12 outright?
Anyone that has purchased, please comment and compare to v.11 (or previous versions) - especially regarding the "crashing" issues - and especially if you have experience with larger/complex layouts.

I was using the full version, build 458, in a Windows XP Professional environment, with 512MB RAM. I don't often build large complex files, so can't comment on memeory leak problems. My impression is that 12 is faster than 11, but this is subjective - I haven't measured scientifically. It also seems more stable - I've had no crashes. As I said previously, I would recommend the move to others.

Some, but not many. What I find better about 12 is that a whole lot of the peripheral features work more intuitively. Things like fitting text to a path, the outline and fill tools - right now I can't think what else, but I just thought the whole package was slicker. I haven't had a single crash with 12.

Just to update, I have been playing with the 30 day trial. My first impressions are that 12 is MUUUUUCH faster. I have yet to crash it, and I have been trying very hard. Next week is my torture test, I will crash it - I am confident. There are a lot of unique new tool interfaces. I like the dynamic guidelines, and I like the various "snap points" - it makes alignment so much easier now.
Nothing stands out for me in paint, but italways seemed to work better - except for the nagging way of changing text - it shouldn't have to be highlighted first - it should just work like Draw does.
Anyway, this will be a new purchase when my 30 days are up.

Attrofy - A word about your comment about text in Photopaint. Don't try to do it. Photopaint is a bitmap manipulating program, Truetype text is vector generated, so it's much more efficient to import the bitmap into CorelDraw and superimpose the text in a separate layer.
I agree with you about the speed of V12 and the dynamic guidelines.

Just a general thing on crashes, if Draw does crash and you can make it do it every time - mention it here if others can reproduce it, then it should be reported. Corel can't fix what they don't know about and will only correct things that can be reproduced, having said that the obvious should come out at testing.

Now that you mention it Brushman, I do see a trend, it ususally crashes when I have manipulated some graphic, and haven't saved yet....but I think that has more to do with Murphy then Corel.

Depending on what the final output is going to be, I will often do just as you suggest. But often times when making masks, or other text effects, the text is much easier to work with (and sometimes necassary) in Photopaint. And you know how it goes, you can never have the final image look just right until you have tried every other font before realizing that the first font/color you had was the correct one.
