What would be the optimal way to set up the drives with
a Promise 66 card ? Currently, HDD is going to Promise
66 controller, DVD is set to cable-select and piggybacked
to CD-RW, also set to cable-select,both going to IDE 2.

I have the new Yamaha 3200 CD-RW, and it burned an audio
CD fine, but now DVD (Dell 4100 OEM) produces slight popping
and minor but annying distortion problems when playing audio
from CDs. Tried audio output from CD-RW instead, and that
sounded fine, but DVD was working fine before the addition
of the CD-RW.

Could the audio problem with the DVD be caused by a less
than optimal configuration of the drives. I would really
appreciate any insight, advice or comments. Thanks alot.
Happy Christmas.

Pete

From my experience, my sony dvd-rom ddu1211 got difficulty reading some software and it can't be use as source drive for cd-rw. I always get buffer underruns and other faults enough to spoil the cdr. I get to solve this problem only i purchase another cd-rom. Conclusion is dvd-rom is only useful for watching dvds nothing else.
