Darn. I reread the posted question, and noticed the "LAPTOP" part.
I should have done what I normally do: When a post has a defecit of information, I ask for more info.

In BIOS change BOOT order: Put the CD-ROM as 2nd, after the floppy, and before the HD 0.
> Then, when you boot up, with no floppy disk in, your CD-ROM will be the BOOT device.
With the Windows CD in the CD-ROM,....... you may not have to enable the CD-ROM in DOS with the BOOT disk.
