On one of our laptops when the user puts a CD Rom in the drive it reads fine but if he removes the CD Rom and puts another one in it retains the information from the last cd, normally refreshing brings up the new cd but not allways.
The Laptop is running windows 98 with a Standard CD Rom drive

If anyone has come accross this and has any suggestions they are more than welcome.

Thanks all

Although I've never seen a CDROM do this, I have seen floppy disks do exactly what you are describing. It almost every case with the floppy disks it turned out to be a bad or poorly connected floppy cable. Unfortunately, the CDROM IDE cable isn't something that is easily changable within a Laptop. Hopefully someone else can post you an easier fix.
