CD-ROM Not detected 1

I recently installed my new K75SA Motherboard.
All went well, but windows does not detect the CD-ROM.
At startup it says the CD-ROM is detected (when it checks it's HDD's) but windows or DOS cannot see it.

I've tried it as a slave on IDE1 and as the master on IDE2.
I've tried a different hard drive and a differend CD-ROM.
I'm pretty sure it isn't the CD-ROM's fault.
This is not mentioned in the motherboard's booklet.

Some motherboards prefer cd-rom drives to use CS (cable select) mode, try this and see if it helps.

Please let me know if the advice I give is of use.

System properties, Device manager, CD Rom line. If this shows something you could delete that line, and shut down and restart windows to let it try its install process again.

(& I think your post indicates you've done these things, but as a double check, when you were trying on ide2, you were using a new or good cable, putting cd on the end cable connector, pin one of cable oriented to pin 1 of cd, and jumper was set to master?)

First, boot to your trusty boot diskette with CDROM support. If the CD reads there, then it seems that your issue is with Windows.

Being that you just installed a new motherboard, you likely need to install the proper motherboard/chipset drivers. Mudskipper

Yes, Cable select did the trick.
I've never even heard of cable select being used before,
But I have now!!!
