CD rom, mind of it's own

When I press the eject button on my Creative labs 48X CDrom it pops out as it should, then pops straight back in, as it shouldn't. Any ideas why. It makes putting a rom in the drive fun!!lol, but has also trapped a few that have not been properly seated.
It just started behaving like this last week after faultless operation for the past 10 months.
